Exposed Ground Needs A Different Build
Calimesa sits high and open, and the wind that comes through this end of the valley finds every fence on the mesa. A solid privacy fence catches all of it, which is why the failures we see here are almost always at the post rather than the panel. Deeper footings and tighter spacing cost very little at installation and are the whole difference in year five.
The newer hillside tracts add grade to that. A run crossing a slope either steps down in panels or racks to follow the ground, and which one suits depends on whether the fence faces the street and whether you need the bottom closed for dogs. We settle that on site before anything is ordered.
On the older streets the work is more ordinary and often cheaper than people expect. Sound posts with grey, cupped boards is a re-panel, not a rebuild, and a dropped gate is usually a morning's work rather than a new fence.

About Calimesa
Calimesa takes its name from a blend of California and mesa, which is exactly what it is: a small city on high ground where the valley narrows toward the pass. It incorporated in 1990 and has stayed comparatively small, though new housing has arrived steadily on the hillsides.
The 10 freeway runs through it on the way up toward Beaumont and the pass, and the Calimesa Country Club and the older neighborhoods around it give the center of town a settled, quiet feel.
What people notice first is the air and the views. Sitting higher than the valley floor, the city looks out toward the San Gorgonio and San Bernardino ranges, and that same elevation is what puts every fence here in the wind.

- Sometimes. Panels often survive when posts fail, so a rebuild can reuse a good deal of the material. We will look and tell you honestly what is salvageable.

- Structure, before material. Deeper posts, tighter spacing and good footings carry the load. Where wind is severe, something with airflow such as iron or a spaced picket takes far less punishment than a solid panel.
