Anyone who has lived in Alta Loma or Etiwanda through a windy week knows this city gets a version of weather the valley floor does not. Air spills down off the San Gabriels and accelerates, and a six foot solid fence standing broadside to it is carrying real load. Fences here do not usually fail at the panel, they fail at the post, which is why footing depth and spacing matter more here than the material you pick.
The second thing that shapes the work is block wall. Most tracts came with it on two or three sides, so a lot of what we do is a return, a side yard, or a gate that has to sit cleanly against masonry. Vinyl And Iron For HOA Neighborhoods
Vinyl is the workhorse in this city because it holds color, needs no painting, and satisfies most HOA rules without argument. About Rancho Cucamonga
The city is really three older communities, Alta Loma, Cucamonga and Etiwanda, that joined together in 1977 and kept their own characters. Alta Loma climbs toward the mountains with larger lots, Etiwanda holds onto its groves and old stone buildings, and the middle of the city is where most of the newer housing went.
Wine came first. Vineyards covered this bench land long before the housing did, and a few wineries and stone cellars survive as a reminder. Route 66 runs through town as Foothill Boulevard, which is why so much of the older commercial frontage sits along that one road.
Victoria Gardens gave the city a downtown it never had, an open air center with streets and a library rather than a mall corridor. Above all of it the mountains rise fast, and on a clear winter morning the snow line sits close enough that people photograph it from their back yards. Those back yards are what we fence.

- Why does my fence lean every few years?
- Almost always the posts rather than the panels. Downslope wind puts steady load on a solid fence, and posts that were set shallow or spaced too widely will work loose. Fixing it properly means addressing the posts and spacing, not just replacing boards.
- Can you fence around a slope or a retaining wall?
- Yes. On grade we either step the panels down or rack them to follow the slope, and where a fence sits on a retaining wall we plan post attachment and height with that wall in mind.
