The older parts of Upland were planted generously, and a century later those trees run the show. About Upland
Euclid Avenue is the city's spine and its best known feature, a divided boulevard with a wide planted median that runs from the base of the mountains down through town. The Madonna of the Trail monument stands at its intersection with Foothill Boulevard, which is Route 66 through this part of the valley.
Citrus built the place, and the older neighborhoods still reflect grove era street patterns and generous lots. Downtown Upland kept its historic buildings rather than clearing them, so the Grove Theatre and the brick storefronts along Second Avenue still anchor the center of town.
North of all that the land tilts up toward the San Gabriels, where lots get larger, views get better and the wind gets serious. The foothill trail systems and the mouth of San Antonio Canyon are minutes away, which is part of why people put up with the wind in the first place.

- We work around it. Post spacing gets adjusted so we are not cutting structural roots, which protects both the tree and the fence. On the rare occasion a line genuinely cannot work, we will tell you before you have paid for anything.
- Why do fences lean so often on this side of town?
- Wind off the foothills puts constant pressure on anything solid, and posts set shallow or spaced too wide will eventually work loose. The fix is in the footings and spacing rather than in the panels.
- Can you match an old wood fence rather than replace all of it?
