Coronita is an unincorporated community wedged against the eastern side of Corona, close to the 91 and the mouth of the Santa Ana Canyon. It is small enough that many people driving through assume they are still in Corona.
Staying unincorporated has kept its own character, with older homes and lots that were laid out before the master planned tracts arrived. Riverside County rather than the city governs what happens on these parcels.
The canyon is the defining feature. It brings the wind, it carries the freeway and the rail line through toward Orange County, and it puts the Santa Ana Mountains within sight of most streets here.
